Cambridge Web Design - revisited

[ Feb 18 2006, 09:56 ]

Regular readers of the MJBlog, (published by the well known Cambridge web design, development and marketing specialist Mat Barnett), may remember some of the earliest postings relating to the experiments with trying to get this website to appear in search engine results for 'cambridge web design' and 'web design'.

18 months on...

In June 2004 this site entered the Big G's search results listings at position 229. By March 2005 the site was in the top 20 and a top 10 or even top 5 position looked like possible. However, as the impact on traffic to the site was practically negligible it was decided to aim a little higher and try to see what we could do with 'web design' as a target term rather than the relatively easy 'Cambridge Web Design'.

Some of the 'Cambridge' modifications that were made were removed and as expected the site dropped a few pages for the 3-word search. Now, after about a year of, well, not much really in terms of effort, the site can be found at position 28.

Sorry - I got a bit distracted there for a while. I've given the whole Cambridge Web Design thing some thought and I'm fairly confident that I can get this thing near the top of page 1 and put together a useful case study on Search Engine Optimisation at the same time. The 'home page' of the case study will be : Cambridge Web Design - an SEO case study while the actual page that will be optimised using what I'm now calling my 'best the best result' strategy will be Cambridge Web Design
