Late on day 11
[ Jun 24 2004, 23:12 ]I've made the most of being ill for the past 48 hours by building a website. It's not live yet so I'll resist directing you to it just yet.
Meanwhile... spider visitations seem to be nice and regular. As far as positions are concerned, the index or home page of this site is currently at position 32 for a web search for 'Cambridge Web design' and at 22 for a UK search. It's interesting to see that the target 'web design' page isn't being listed now which suggests that the ranking for the site as a whole has improved.
Strategy tweaks
I've been having a look at some of the sites that currently appear on the first page of results for 'Cambridge web design'. At the top is a baffling redirect page that doesn't seem to be there deliberately. The next site seems to be there thanks to links pointing to it containing 'cambridge' and 'web'.
The next couple of listings I would describe as a bit cheeky. At the foot of these pages are several paragraphs that seem to be some form of disclaimer, but while not being out and out spam, (i.e. meaningless gibberish featuring target keywords), they are certainly spam-flavoured. But then I suppose that's all part of the game, and has got me thinking.
