Loquine Glupe
[ Feb 02 2005, 21:00 ]This blog entry was going to be called 'A quick recap'. The replacement title, Loquine Glupe is explained below. A (hopefully) brief revue of other things I've got my eye on follows first though...
This thing
At the time of writing my last entry, entitled 'Cambridge web design' has yet to be spidered and indexed by Google, and yet it was pointed out to me earlier to today that this site's position for the term 'Cambridge web design' has improved regardless. Once I'd recovered from the surprise of learning that someone had actually read this waffle I had a quick look and it seems to be true - for a default search on google.co.uk we're at position 15, and for a UK specific search position 12, a whisker from the first page.
However
There are a few things to consider though before cigars and champagne, mainly to do with the fact that the page that currently appears for the 'Cambridge web design' is an old and now archived 'off-brand' offering. Ideally the newer 'website design' page should be encouraged to rank well instead but it's not that simple. On one hand I could try to track down every link to the old page and rewrite and re-point them, or I could simply publish a copy of the new page over the old. One to chew over - it's hardly mission critical, as they say - more a bit of fun, rather like a rather silly SEO competition that I spotted in one of today's newsletters where contestants are challenged to appear as highly as possible in Google for the term 'Loquine Glupe'.
Why Loquine Glupe?
Using words that simply don't exist creates a virtually equal starting point for this kind of thing. Although Loquine could almost be mistaken for some kind of Latin-based adjective like equine, there's not really a word that comes close to it. Glupe similarly could only really be mistaken for Gloop which while absent from some online dictionaries will be familair to Roald Dahl fans as it's the last name of Augustus Gloop - the one who gets sucked up the pipe.
More tomorrow.
Update : 2005-02-07
Shortly after publication, this page briefly appeared on page 1 of Google for the term loquine glupe. At the time of writing the default MJBlog page is Google's favoured MJB loquine-glupe-related page, for some reason. However, I've now published a dedicated loquine glupe page due to huge demand for more information, (yea - right).
