Loquine Glupe Heats Up
February 8 2005 [ 2005-02-08 18:58:22 GMT ]Loquine Glupe
As someone with slightly more than a passing interest in search engines I've been keeping an eye on the current Loquine Glupe contest and, through writing about it publicly I seem to have entered it.
When my first comments were posted in a MJBlog entry entitled 'Loquine Glupe' Google was claiming to have around 1200 loquine glupe pages in its index and my modest comments appeared on the first page of results. A couple of days later the page count rose to around 2500, pushing my waffle down the ranks somewhat. For the past 24 hours or so the count has been showing 8,140 and I'm on page 3 and I'm now expecting to practically disappear if pages have continued to proliferate at this rate, especially if pages of keyword-stuffed nonsense like that published by lasarten.sizzly.com continue to be allowed.
Below is a snapsot of Google's cache of the kind of a particularly spammy page, complete with highlighting.

I'm surprise that this kind of thing isn't automatically ignored by Google et al, or actually count against a site's rank. Sure, we all edit copy with favoured search terms in mind, but, this is?
At the time of writing MJB's weblog, (MJBlog), is appearing 2nd for a UK-specific search on Google for loquine glupe. Any updates will appear in MJBlog or the news section.
