Although the term Nutscrape produces loads of results in Google suggesting one or two people may have produced browsers to parody the old king of ping, the steady progress of this instance is most likely due to robotic antics.

Just FYI - you might want to update your database. The Squid proxy server which is in pretty widespread use has an option to mangle the user-agent for anonymizing -- the commented out config option reads:
# Usage: header_replace header_name message
# Example: header_replace User-Agent Nutscrape/1.0 (CP/M; 8-bit)
so if folks see Nutscrape it's likely a real human behind a proxy. Made me laugh anyway :)
